Cherokees to sell car tags
At the Oklahoma Intertribal Tax Association, a Cherokee Nation official said that the Cherokee Tribal Council is interested in selling car tags to its members in their 14 country area. Some members of the association already sell tags to their members, but the majority of these tribes have 3,000 members or less. At least 100,000 Cherokee live in the 14 northeastern Oklahoma counties. Many members of the association balked when the Cherokee official talked of entering into a compact with the state for car tags, citing that every compact reduces their sovereignty.
