JUNE 21, 2001 An Assistant US Attorney in Oklahoma on Wednesday said the government still wants to shut down gaming facilities operated by the Seminole Nation. Linda Epperly said the government wants a National Indian Gaming Commission order to be enforced. A federal judge declined to do so, ruling the NIGC overstepped its authority. The tribe says the games it offers at four gaming facilities are legal, Class II games. NIGC says they are Class III and are being operated without a tribal-state compact. Get the Story:
