TUESDAY, JULY 31, 2001 The recent announcement of a gaming compact with the Seneca Nation has raised talk about an Indian casino in the Catskills, but New York Governor George Pataki (R) says a deal is nowhere near complete. The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe has been trying to open a casino in the Catkills for a few years. The tribe recently changed gaming partners and is seeking trust land status for an off-reservation casino.
