Court allows challenge to gaming compact

The Appellate Division of the New York State Supreme Court has ruled a legal challege to a gaming compact can be heard without the St. Regis Mohawk named as part of the suit.

The compact was signed in 1993 by then Governor Mario Cuomo with the tribe. Three anti-gambling groups are challenging the compact but were earlier denied by a state Supreme Court judge.
