The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma plan to issue their own car tags in order to raise revenue for the tribe and for school districts in the nation's 14-county region.

Fifteen Oklahoma tribes sell their own car tags, which typically cost less than the state's. But the state is considering lowering its own car tag rate.

The Cherokee Nation wants to enter into a compact with the state in order to ensure the validity of their tags in other states.
