Tigua casino staying open for now

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 2001 The Tigua Tribe of Texas won't have to shut down its casino on Friday as previously ordered, thanks to intervention by a higher power. A federal judge had ordered the Speaking Rock Casino near El Paso to be shut down by November 30. But the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals on Tuesday granted the tribe a stay and set a court date of January 9 to hear the matter. Local oficials residents have rallied behind the casino, saying it helps the economy. Get the Story:
