Tigua casino ordered shut down again

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 2001 A federal judge in Texas on Friday refused to reconsider his ruling ordering the closure of the Tigua Tribe's casino. In doing so, U.S. District Judge Garnett Thomas Eisele reiterated his belief that the casino is a "nuisance" and not in compliance with federal law prohibiting Class III gaming in states where it is not allowed. He said he would reconsider only if the tribe removes the offending slot machines and other card games from the Speaking Rock casino near El Paso. Eisele has yet to rule on whether to suspend his order for closure pending the tribe's appeal to the 5th Circuit. Get the Story:
