Tribes seem to have trouble getting a meeting with Secretary of Interior Gale Norton but Louisiana Gov. Mike Foster apparently had no problem.

On Monday, Foster met with Norton to discuss issues facing his state, including a compact he signed with the Jena Choctaw Tribe. Foster said the compact was discussed only briefly.

Foster signed the deal, which features a 21 percent revenue sharing rate, contingent on the tribe receiving trust land. The Bureau of Indian Affairs is set to decide on the tribe's land-into-trust application in March.
