Vote wanted against Maine casino

WEDNESDAY, MARCH 20, 2002 The town council of Kittery, Maine, is being asked to vote to oppose a casino proposed by two tribes. Two council members want a non-binding referendum put before voters in June. The council will consider the issue at a meeting next Monday. The Penobscot Nation and the Passamaquoddy Tribe have proposed to build a casino in Kittery, a popular shopping port within driving distance to Boston, Massachusetts, and Portland, Maine.
