WEDNESDAY, APRIL 17, 2002

The city of Gary, Indiana, has been negotiating with the Miami Nation of Oklahoma on a casino, mayor Scott King said on Tuesday.

King said informal talks with the tribe began in January. He said more formal discussions are now underway.

The casino would be land-based. The city has two riverboat casinos.

The Miami Nation filed a land claim in Indiana but withdrew it last year.
