Tesuque Pueblo officials say they are being left out of a highway improvement project in New Mexico because of their strong stance on sovereignty.

The Pueblo wants a meeting with State Highway and Transportation Secretary Pete Rahn to discuss the issue. Rahn said he is willing to meet to discuss the $70 million project which will improve nine miles of highways, except a stretch of road that runs through tribal land.

Rahn has said the state doesn't have the $20 million needed to fix the Pueblo's road.
