Another member of the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma with no direct experience in tribal politics is being considered to head the Bureau of Indian Affairs.

Citing anonymous sources, The Tulsa World reported on Saturday that Oklahoma Transportation Secretary Neal McCaleb is the front runner. McCaleb is a former state Representative (1974-1982) and made a run for the Republican nomination for Governor in 1982.

Indianz.Com reported in February that Tom Cole, former Oklahoma Secretary of State and former Chief of Staff for the Republican National Committee, is also up for the job. Cole is Chickasaw as well.
