In an interview on Good Morning America today, Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colo.) said the Bush admnistratration will suffer the most when Jim Jeffords leaves the GOP as is expected.

"The big losers in this whole thing is going to be the Bush administration," said Campbell. "We'll still get along with Jim and he'll still vote his conscience as he did before regardless of which party he's in, but the Bush agenda certainly is going to falter with the change of numbers here in the Senate."

Campbell was the last lawmaker to change parties when he became a Republican in 1995. His switch didn't have a dramatic impact on the balance of power, however, as the GOP was already in control of the Senate.
