New Mexico state officials and lawmakers on Wednesday held a ceremony to honor state Sen. John Pinto, one of the Navajo Code Talkers whose secret code helped win World War II.

Pinto was one of the 300 Marines who followed in the footsteps of the original 29. He is a Democrat who represents Tohatchi.
