They say you can never go home again but Secretary of Interior Gale Norton did that on Wednesday when she talked about endangered and soon-to-be-extinct species in Wichita, Kansas.

Norton said she wanted her department to cooperate more with local ranchers and farmers to protect endangered species. Rather than issue an edict from the top, she said these landowners know best how to protect their resources.

Substitute ranchers and farmers with tribal leaders and endangered species with trust and tribal services and tribes might find out if Norton feels the same way about her controversial reorganization of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
