The Bush administration has been freely releasing documents and other records from former President Bill Clinton's term in office, leading some to question whether the White House has a double standard on the policy.

John D. Podesta, a former Clinton chief of staff, said the Bush White House is clearly biased. Bush officials agreed to the release thousands of pages of Clinton records but won't do the same for the energy task force that is now the subject of a legal dispute.

The White House, however, pointed out that neither Clinton nor former Vice President Al Gore objected to the release of the information. At the same time, it held back Reagan-era document on the basis of national security even though no objection was raised.
