Larry Curley is running for President of the Navajo Nation and says he is ready to kick the tribe into high-gear.

He says current leader Kelsey Begaye is a do-nothing. He says the tribe should share drunk driving records with the state to prevent an accident like the one involving a tribal members (also a Bureau of Indian Affairs employee) who faces manslaughter charges for the deaths of four people. He says the tribe is and inefficient bureaucracy where nothing gets done.

Curley might have a friend in a non-Indian who wrote to The Farmington Daily-Times and declared the tribe's government one big mess. "Perhaps it's time for the Navajos to declare the socialism of the Navajo Nation the failure that it is, and to adopt a capitalist economy and constitutionally based political system that works," wrote Barry Digman in a letter published Sunday.
