President Bush unveiled his $2.13 trillion budget on Monday, admitting he will run a deficit but pushing tax cuts and major increases in defense and military spending anyway.

The budget seeks $38.3 billion for the Pentagon, an historic 11.7 increase, including $10 billion to continue the war Afghanistan and other anti-terror efforts. Domestic security spending is proposed at $18 billion.

As far as tax cuts, Bush proposes $675 billion over the next 10 years. Democrats in the Senate have blamed his 2002 tax cut on the deficit, which will remain until the end of Bush's term.

After the budget was released, Democrats continued the criticism, with at least one leading member calling the United States an "Enron" government.

Cuts abound elsewhere in numerous federal agencies and programs. Public housing, wildlife, work safety, and the Army Corps of Engineers are some of the areas feeling the Bush ax.
