National Native News talks to the world
FRIDAY, JANUARY 18, 2002

National Native News was born on January 5, 1987, in a tiny office with little funds, no support staff and a host, Gary Fife, who didn't expect the program to last.

More than a decade, and several hosts, later, NNN is still here, and for five minutes every weekday, listeners in Indian Country and beyond can tune in to get updates on stories affecting tribes throughout the Americas. Now under the ownership of Koahnic Broadcast Corp., host Bernadette Chato has a bigger budget, a full-time reporter, an intern and those five minutes.
