Lloyd Kiva New IAIA founder dies

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2002 Lloyd Kiva New, founder of the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico, died Friday in Santa Fe. He was 85. Considered the father of contemporary Native art, New was an inspiration to many of today's most well known artists. A memorial service is planned February 23 by the school. The family requests donations be made to the school's Lloyd Kiva New Endowed Scholarship Fund in lieu of flowers. Get the Story:
