Navajo exhibit gets good reviews

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2002 The Navajo Nation's cultural pavilion at the Winter 2002 Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, is getting favorable reviews from tribal members and visitors. The most popular destinations at "Discover Navajo 2002" are the hogan demonstration and the Code Talkers, reports The Farmington Daily-Times. According to project coordinator Marilyn Ellingson, more than 20,000 people have visited, paying $10 to enter. The same raves can't be said about the neighboring Ethnic Village, where vendors say they stand to lose thousands of dollars over a delayed opening, lost electricity and a collapse of the ceiling. One Navajo complained to The Arizona Republic that his Navajo tacos are now being upstaged by Tongans who are selling their own "Navajo" tacos. Get the Story:
