"Men such as Roger Jourdain, who passed away March 21, are markers in our history. When they pass away, we are reminded of the drastic changes that took place in Indian country. He was part of a group we affectionately called the "Big Guns."

Jourdain had a 31-year career as tribal chairman of the Red Lake Band of Chippewa.

The men of these newly elected positions began to travel to the seat of government to try to become players in this new game. . ."
