Father of Jimi Hendrix dies

THURSDAY, APRIL 18, 2002 James Al Hendrix, father of guitar great Jimi Hendrix, died on Wednesday at the age of 82. Hendrix raised his son alone for most of the legend's childhood years in Seattle, Washington. He had control over his son's estate up until passing it to his adopted daughter. Jimi Hendrix was named to the Native American Music Association's hall of fame. He had Cherokee ancestry. Get the Story:
