The Hopi Tribe hosted a digital town hall on April 24, 2020, to discuss 39 COVID-19 positive cases at the local Indian Health Service facility in Arizona.
Of those cases, more than 20 are Hopi citizens, KUYI Hopi Public Radio reported. Chairman Tim Nuvangyouma listed 9 communities in which the individuals live the station said.
The results reflect testing at the Hopi Health Care Center, an IHS facility. According to IHS data shared by the radio station, 136 people have been tested through April 23, with additional tests ongoing.
Additionally, some people have been tested through the Navajo Nation, whose reservation surrounds Hopi in northeastern Arizona, KUYI reported.
