New Mexico Delivers Essential Resources to Tribal Communities
SANTA FE – The Indian Affairs Department continues to partner with the New Mexico National Guard, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, and other sister agencies to procure and deliver food and water to our tribal communities.
“Procurement and delivery of essential resources for our tribal communities is a priority for this administration,” said Indian Affairs Department Cabinet Secretary, Lynn Trujillo. “We are working directly with our tribal communities to identify their needs and ensure those needs are being met.”
“The Pueblo of Jemez Leadership thanks the Indian Affairs Department, Emergency Operations Center and all the organizations that made this possible. The community has greatly benefited from this heartfelt distribution. Thank you,” said Pueblo of Jemez Governor, David Toledo.
A massive food and water delivery was coordinated for the following communities: Pueblos of Acoma, Jemez, Ohkay Owingeh, Pojoaque, Santa Ana, San Ildefonso, San Felipe, Santo Domingo, Taos, Tesuque, Zia, and the Jicarilla Apache Nation.
The food boxes for this delivery are large boxes that were built to feed a family of four for one week. Deliveries have been made to the following communities.
- Pueblo of San Ildefonso, 6 pallets of water
- Pueblo of Santo Domingo, 19 pallets of water
- Pueblo of Jemez, 560 boxes of food
- Pueblo of Pojoaque, 38 boxes of food
- Pueblo of Santa Ana, 200 boxes of food and 3 pallets of produce
- Pueblo of San Felipe, 250 boxes of food
- Ohkay Owingeh, 125 boxes of food and 3 pallets of produce
- Pueblo of Zia, 200 boxes of food
- Jicarilla Apache Nation, 825 boxes of food
*Deliveries are ongoing and does not account for private donations being made.
