No new COVID-19 cases have been detected at Kewa Pueblo in New Mexico in almost two months, according to the tribe’s health corporation.

As of October 2, 2020, a total of 83 community members have tested positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That’s unchanged from the data shared by the Kewa Pueblo Health Corporation on August 10.

All of the coronavirus cases among community members have resulted in recoveries, according to the data.

About 2,400 people live at Kewa, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, though the state of New Mexico puts the population at more than 3,100. Based on data shared by the tribal health corporation, almost everyone in the community has been tested for the coronavirus as of October 2.

Kewa is located in Sandoval County, where a large number of COVID-19 cases have been reported in two additional tribal communities. The Pueblo of San Felipe and the Pueblo of Zia have each seen more than 100 cases, according to the New Mexico Department of Health, with most of these cases occurring at the onset of the pandemic earlier in 2020.

Kewa is about 40 miles north of downtown Albuquerque, the most populous city in New Mexico.
