NEW ACTING NAVAJO AREA BIA DIRECTOR FRANK HOLIDAY

Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez, Vice President Myron Lizer, Resources and Development Committee Chair Rickie Nez, and several Division Directors met with officials with the Navajo Area Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA) office in Window Rock, Arizona this morning.

Bart Stevens, who previously served as the Director for the Navajo Region BIA, introduced Frank Holiday as the new acting Director. Mr. Stevens will now serve as the Deputy Director for the entire BIA, overseeing all 12 Regional Directors across the country. Frank Holiday, a member of the Navajo Nation from Kayenta, Arizona, will serve as the acting Director for the 120 days.

During the meeting, President Nez and Vice President Lizer spoke about the anticipated American Rescue Plan Act funds, the Nez-Lizer Administration’s “white paper” that outlines specific policy changes at the federal level to expedite NEPA review processes and other requirements, and forward scholarship funding for Navajo students among several priorities.

The Nez-Lizer Administration thanks Mr. Bart Stevens for his years of service as the Director for the Navajo Region BIA and the welcomes Mr. Frank Holiday. Ahe’hee’
