93 new cases and one death related to COVID-19 reported
WINDOW ROCK, Arizona – On Friday, the Navajo Department of Health, in coordination with the Navajo Epidemiology Center and the Navajo Area Indian Health Service, reported 93 new COVID-19 cases for the Navajo Nation and one death. The total number of deaths is now 1,872. 575,648 COVID-19 tests have been administered.
The overall total number of positive COVID-19 cases is now 62,912, including two delayed reported cases. A new case is defined as a positive test within the last 72-hours. Some cases are due to delayed reporting from the states. Any positive tests from beyond the last 72-hours are considered delayed.
The Navajo Nation remains in “yellow status,” in accordance with Public Health Emergency Order No. 2022-004 available online at: https://www.ndoh.navajo-nsn.gov/COVID-19.
“Our health care professionals strongly encourage everyone to be very cautious with the spread of COVID-19 and now the spread of Monkeypox. Continue to follow the three w’s, wear a fitted mask, wash your hands, and watch your distance from others. Be aware of who you spend the weekend with and how you are taking steps to prevent infection. Have a great and safe weekend,” said Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez.
Health care facilities on the Navajo Nation continue to administer COVID-19 vaccines. If you would like to receive one of the COVID-19 vaccines, please contact your health care provider and schedule an appointment.
“Continue offer prayers for our frontline workers and those who are struggling with COVID-19 and other illnesses. Please be aware of your surroundings and be mindful of COVID-19. Be safe and take care of your loved ones including your elders,” said Vice President Myron Lizer.
