The Indian Health Service has updated its coronavirus testing data, showing results as of 11:59 pm Eastern on May 18, 2020.

According to the data, 79,788 tests have been administered within the system. Of those, 7,487 have returned positive for COVID-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus. That represents an increase of nearly 3.4 percent from the 7,244 cases previously reported.

Overall, testing increased by 5.7 percent between May 17 and May 18, the data shows It grew by 1.4 percent between May 16 and May 17.

The data, however, is incomplete. While 100 percent of facilities run directly by the IHS are reporting data, only 33 percent of tribally managed facilities and 44 percent of urban Indian organizations are doing the same, the agency has told Indianz.Com.
