Calif. casino compact ruling appealed

FRIDAY, AUGUST 2, 2002

A group of northern California casino card clubs and religious charities are appealing a ruling which upheld the validity of tribal gaming agreements.

The group filed a notice of appeal to U.S. District Judge David Levi's July 23 decision. Levi said tribes were legally granted the right to a Class III, or Vegas-style, casino monopoly.
