Ariz. Indian gaming victory confirmed

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2002

Voters in Arizona have narrowly approved a tribal gaming initiative.

With 11,000 ballots still left uncounted, Proposition 202 was leading with 20,000 votes in favor. Ballot initiatives need a 50-percent-plus-one majority to pass.

Proposition 202 was supported by the state's 17 tribes. They spent a record $21 million to authorize continued gaming and revenue sharing with the state.
