Ariz. governor waits to sign compacts

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2002

Outgoing Arizona Governor Jane Hull (R) could sign gaming compacts with 17 tribes this week, depending on the outcome of court action over the agreements.

The racetrack industry has asked the State Supreme Court to bar Hull from signing. A decision could come today.

Separately, a federal court order is expected to issue an order to authorize Hull.
