Navajo Nation panel to vote on water agreement

THURSDAY, APRIL 17, 2003

A Navajo Nation committee is set to vote on a water agreement affecting the San Juan River, The Farmington Daily Times reports.

The San Juan Basin Water Recommended Water Use Agreement determines how the tribe, local governments and other water users will share water from the river in time of drought. The deal appeared to be dead but it has been revived and stripped of a provision to allow a mining company to purchase extra water from the tribe.
