Opposition to alleged casino mounts

A group of communities in northeastern Connecticut is offering its help in fighting a casino reportedly being proposed by a tribe in neighboring Massachusetts.

The Nipmuc Nation is said to be eyeing 80 acres of land in the town of Union for a casino. Town officials, however, say no one from the tribe has approached them about a casino.

The other communities are worried the tiny town won't have the political or monetary muscle to fight a casino should it chose to object to it.
