Service held for Jourdain
THURSDAY, MARCH 28, 2002 Flags were flown at half-mast on the Red Lake Reservation in Minnesota on Wednesday to honor Roger Jourdain, the tribe's longtime chairman who passed away last week. A crowd reported to be in excess of 500 attended the service. Friends, family and Sen. Paul Wellstone (D-Minn.) brought praises and spoke of the man who was one of the staunchest defenders of tribal sovereignty. Jourdain died at age 89. Get the Story:
