Choctaw tribe lauded for success
MONDAY, OCTOBER 14, 2002 Once mired in poverty, the Mississippi Band of Choctaws has grown to become more self-sufficient, thanks to Indian gaming and a pro-business tribal chairman. The tribe's business ventures help pay for college tuition, K-12 education, health care, law enforcement, a community center and backing for home loans.
