Miccosukee Tribe's case up for Supreme Court review

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2003

The Supreme Court is being asked to review whether the state of Florida can pump dirty water into the Everglades.

The Miccosukee Tribe and environmentalists won at the 11th Court of Appeals. They contend the state is violating the Clean Water Act.

The state says its practice doesn't contribute to additional pollution. The Supreme Court was set to decide whether to take the case last month but instead asked the Department of Justice to submit its views.
