Minn. lawmakers approve nuclear waste bill
FRIDAY, MAY 23, 2003
The Minnesota House approved a bill to allow the storage of additional nuclear waste at a facility next to the Prairie Island Indian Community.
The tribe came to a settlement with the operators of the plant. As long as it is open, Xcel Energy will pay the tribe about $1 million a year.
The bill includes the tribe's agreement.
