Editorial: The gaming dependency
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2001 In an editorial today, The New London Day says Connecticut needs to diversify its businesses lest local and state governments become more addicted and "dependent" on gaming revenues. The paper makes is directed to no one person, leader or group in particular, but just to "southeastern Connecticut." The region is home to two tribal casinos but the paper says the economy is healthy there not only because of tourism and gaming but due to military, defense, maritime business and bioscience.
