Supporters of gaming in Neb. think positive

Supporters of a proposed gaming amendment in Nebraska say they have enough votes to break a filibuster and head to a final vote next week.

Sen. DiAnna Schimek (D) is a supporter of gaming for the state's tribes but has been unable to get the amendment through for the past few years. The latest proposal would allow up to eight casinos.

Lawmakers next week will consider lowering the number of casinos to five. The proposed amendment needs 25 votes to move to the next round, then 30 votes to get it on the November ballot.
