Harrah's offers more for Narragansett casino

Harrah's Entertainment says it will raise its offer for the right to open a casino with the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island.

The company is offering a $100 million licensing fee over 10 years plus a percentage of gaming revenues, between 25 percent and 35 percent. Lawmakers say they want more out of the tribe in the long run.

The tribe needs voter approval before moving forward. Lawmakers are considering putting the issue on the November ballot.

The project is expected to create thousands of jobs for the state. A tribal casinos from Connecticut is recruiting in Rhode Island.
