Pataki denies negotiations with Seneca-Cayugas

New York Gov. George Pataki (R) on Friday said his office wasn't negotiating a casino with the Seneca-Cayuga Tribe of Oklahoma.

News reports in recent weeks said Pataki and the tribe were near a deal to settle its portion of the Cayuga land claim for gaming rights. But Pataki's office said a casino in Rochester wasn't under discussion.

A developer for the tribe still said a deal could be announced as early as this week. The tribe is proposing a $500 million casino resort in Rochester.
