Poarch Creeks to ask NIGC for opinion on poker

The Poarch Band of Creek Indians has agreed to ask the National Indian Gaming Commission for an advisory opinion on non-banked poker games.

Poarch Creek Chairman Eddie Tullis met with the U.S. Attorney's office in Alabama to discuss the tribe's plans to offer the games. The tribe says non-banked poker is a Class II game.

In states like Oklahoma and New York, where most forms of Class III games are outlawed, the NIGC has allowed non-banked poker games. The tribe hopes to generate revenue and jobs by adding the games.
