Morongo Band, state to meet over dispute machines

Representatives of the Morongo Band of Mission Indians and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) will meet today to discuss the tribe's use of video lottery terminals.

Schwarzenegger claims the use of the terminals violates the tribe's compact with the state. The compact limits the tribe to 2,000 slot machines.

But the tribe says the terminals aren't covered by the compact so they can be operated in addition to slot machines.

The Pechanga Band of Luiseno Indians also uses the same machines and is expected to meet with Schwarzenegger's office to discuss the issue.
