Two Minnesota tribes have launched a public relations campaign to counter claims by Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R) that they aren't sharing enough with the state.
The Prairie Island Indian Community and Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community say their casinos have generated thousands of jobs, contributed to payroll taxes and made contributions to local communities and charitable organizations.
Pawlenty attacked the tribes last month for refusing to share $350 million in revenues. He said he will try to open an urban casino, possibly with remote tribes, instead.
