Oneida Nation leader blasts Pataki for gaming deals

Oneida Nation representative Ray Halbritter accused New York Gov. George Pataki (R) of using gaming deals with out-of-state tribes to benefit friends and developers.

Halbritter told Senate Democrats that Pataki's law firm "stands to make millions in fees for pulling this deal off." Plunkett and Jaffe represents the Stockbridge-Munsee Band of Mohicans, a Wisconsin tribe that Pataki settled with. Plunkett & Jaffe is also advising Trading Cove Associates, the tribe's developer.

The Oneidas oppose the deals made with three out-of-state tribes. Pataki said those tribes gave up their rights when they left New York two hundred years ago.
