The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians says it will pay $25 million for the cost of a freeway interchange near the tribe's casino in the Bay Area.
The tribe says it will give the money to the state Department of Transportation as soon as the Legislature a compact for the casino. The compact has been the subject of debate due to the proposed size of the casino and the way in which the land for it was taken into trust.
The tribe received 9.5 acres in San Pablo through a Congressional rider. The tribe didn't have to go through the lengthy process for an off-reservation land acquisition for gaming.
The land in San Pablo is the home of a card club.
