Lytton Band to install Class II machines at card club

The Lytton Band of Pomo Indians plans to install anywhere from 500 to 1,000 Class II machines at its off-reservation card club in San Pablo, California.

The tribe signed a Class III compact with Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) but the deal stalled amid the size of the proposed casino. So the tribe plans to install Class II machines to generate some revenues, a tribal lawyer said.

The card club was placed in trust under a Congressional rider. Sen Dianne Feinstein (D-California) is pushing a bill that would keep the land in trust but require the tribe to go through the two-part determination process in order to conduct any gaming, whether Class II or Class III, on the land.
