"Our proposed casino in Grand Forks will bring substantial economic benefits to the surrounding community. It will bring jobs to people of Grand Forks as well as to our own people. The local economy will reap great rewards from the casino project, as well. This casino is a win-win proposition for both the city of Grand Forks and our tribe.
[S]ignificant opposition to the casino proposal has come from the other tribes in North Dakota. Unlike the Turtle Mountain tribe, these tribes all have successful casinos located near urban areas. These casinos also are located a great distance from Grand Forks, and so we are confident that we will not be taking customers from them. They will not be affected.
I am sure those tribes are not opposed to our attempt to combat the poverty the Turtle Mountain people endure."
