Oregon tribe cites impact of gaming on community

Gaming by the Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians has generated more than $4 million in state and local tax revenues, created more than 700 jobs with $25.3 million in wages and benefits and contributed nearly $40 million for other businesses, according to a report released on Wednesday.

The report was prepared by ECONorthwest, an economic consulting firm, to show the benefits of tribal gaming in Oregon. Siletz Chairwoman Delores Pigsley said the results show the tribe is paying its "fair share."

The tribe opened its casino in 1995.
